As I am on this journey of preparing to go on the World Race there are a lot of things I must do before I am prepared to go. God is breaking my heart for these countries and the lost more and more each day. He is teaching me to be disciplined in seeking him and trusting in his plan no matter what. Another thing, one hard part of preparing for the race is raising the funds to go. Through raising funds I have sent out support letters, tried to sell candles (which didn't work) and many other things but the funds still just weren't coming in.
One night I was babysitting for a family when they went to small group and I had just told them about the world race before they went to group that night. They came home and she told me that a lady in her small group wanted to help me by throwing me a dessert party. This is a party where people come, donate, pay a cover fee and get to enjoy desserts and conversation. Upon hearing this I thought why would someone I don't know want to help me but I was willing to try anything. We kept in contact through the months and last night the dessert party happened.
There were desserts, lovely godly families and I spoke about the trip. Not only did these strangers shower me with love, support and prayer they also supported me abundantly with money for the trip. I have never felt the power of the body of Christ before until this moment. Having people who didn't know me want to support me in so many ways was a blessing. They believe in what God is doing through me and what God can do, it was such an encouragement. Due to their obedience and support I am proud to announce I am very close to meeting my first deadline. That is so exciting.
I am only one person, a 22 year old girl with little resources but my God has an abundance of resources and has so much power. The body of Christ is so beautiful and I can't wait for everyone that has supported me and those that will in the future be a part of Gods story and mine.
