The Industry
The world famous Thai beaches are not the only paradise tourist attraction in Thailand. The Nana Plaza holds its ground as a tourist HOT SPOT in downtown Bangkok. On any given night, there are over 2,000 women working in the three story high courtyard complex, approximately 300 being lady boys.
Welcome to Satan’s playground. Let me take you on a tour starting on ground level; this is your standard bar scene with prostitutes hanging out waiting, loud music and open bars. Up the stairs a level you will find go-go shows, pole dancers and all the women wearing numbers for convenient selection. On the third floor we only did a walk by and that was plenty. There are live sex shows and all the explicit things one wishes never to see or know of.

In Thailand, it is estimated that between 300,000 to 2.8 million women are involved in prostitution, as well as almost 500,000 children. It is commonly reported that 60% of foreign men who come to Thailand participate in the sex industry. 75% of Thai men surveyed in a Harvard study admitted they had been with a prostitute. According to a CIA report, 700,000 to 2 million women and children globally are victimized by traffickers each year. Trafficking in human beings is now tied with drugs as the second-largest moneymaking venture in the world.
Prostitutes suffer from sexually transmitted diseases, as well as many other related illnesses, acute anxiety, depression, insomnia, flashbacks, and emotional numbing. Coping mechanisms may include alcohol, drugs, mental breakdown, suicide, homosexuality, self-mutilation and abortion.
