We crowded onto a ¨Chicken Bus¨ and departed Antigua Saturday morning. We arrived in the heat of the day at the Central Park in Puerto San Jose. The change of atmosphere was a little shocking when we got off the bus and the first thing I heard from a local was ¨be careful the guy approaching you is a bad man.¨ We took a seat at the park and waited for Felix to arrive.
Felix is our contact here In Puerto San Jose and he runs a ministry called Abdeel, meaning God’s Servant. Felix has a past that would blow you away but the Lord has completely transformed his life and given him a heart for the street kids. He provides living circumstances and discipleship for over 50 kids between the ages of 10 and 18. The base he was in when we arrived was not big enough any more and he just purchased a new home for his ministry.
The place is incredible, 7 acres for the front yard consisting of a beautiful garden, a pond, a pool, a basketball court and Chapel. Then another 7 acres of plantation behind the house, bananas, lemons, coconuts, and other tropical fruits I have never heard of. Felix told us that God had given him a vision of this place when the ministry first begun and it brought tears to his eyes to be standing on property.
Although he was finally able to move in, there is still a bundle work to be done. Fortunately we came looking for ways to serve and help. So for the past four days we have been painting the outside of the building BRIGHT ORANGE and the inside peach. Its looking mighty fine if you ask me.
I have had a great time working here helping Felix and watching his dream come to life. Its been incredible hearing how much faith he has
had in this. We are not sure how much longer we will be here but, please be praying with us that we know where to go next and what to do.
Thanks for all of your support!
