We started ministry here in Bangkok last Monday at NightLight Design Co. NightLight is a newly formed organization based in Bangkok, Thailand, focused on “Bringing Light to women and children through physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and through economic development.
NightLight strives to provide alternative employment for women who have been, or who are at risk of being, sexually exploited. They offer holistic opportunities for life transformation and social re-integration to women leaving situations of sexual exploitation. They provide emergency relief for sexually exploited women and children. They offer protection for at risk children and an education on danger awareness. And they build awareness among local and international advocates on the issue of women and children in prostitution and on global human trafficking for sexual purposes.
Through NightLight, women are now involved in an economic and vocational training project making jewelry from silver, semi- precios stones and other decorative beads purchased in the markets of Bangkok, Thailand
There are 8 of us girls from 3 separate teams working together at NightLIght. Our role while here is to get to know the women who are working, while doing some of the business tasks during the day. Two nights a week are able to go on outreach to one of the main red light districts in Thailand.
It really is a great pleasure to be working with this organization. Three of our main contacts at NightLight are American and it has been incredible hearing their stories and seeing their hearts. We are just beginning to know the women but they are bundle of beauty and fun and I look forward to spending the rest of the time getting to know them.
