Jars of Clay Coffee Shop has become one of my favorite hang outs in Phnom Penh. One of the girls in our Bible study works there and told us to stop by one day. I don’t think she knew that she would have at least one of us visiting on a daily basis.

Pilot and Me
So that’s where I spent the afternoon of my day off. It was a perfect day! I love when it rains outside and I am sitting in a coffee shop. I loved it so much I sat there and read the entire book of Moby Dick cover to cover.

But things were a little wet on my way home. Since I was alone the cheapest form of transportation is a “moto”. So I jumped on one and headed home. Except when the seat is wet, it’s a little hard to stay on. So every stop, swerve and turn I was bracing myself to not slide right off the seat. Also my flip flops get real slippery when they are wet and when you’re riding side saddle, it’s hard to keep slippery flip flops on as well!

As the rain began to fall harder about 2 minutes into the 15 minute commute, my driver decided to stop in the middle of the road as traffic continues on its way, so that he can put his poncho on. So.. I was just sitting behind him getting soaked and laughing at the situation.

Notice the driver in his poncho and me soaking wet…
I have got over the initial fear of going head on into traffic the wrong way and now it’s kind of like a game. The aggressive beeping of the horn means “I am coming against on going traffic and I am not stopping so watch out for me”. And every now and then, they like to play battle of the horns. Oh what would my mother say if she only saw the roads here? I would probably look at here and say ‘it’s okay mom, these guys are professionals’.
Just another average day in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Life is Good!
