It’s October and Autumn has officially begun. This month is specifically wonderful for one reason – crunch leaves, and going out of my way to find and jump in piles of them. I also am quite relieved that the weather is finally past that “Am I in hell?” stage. It’s only 86 degrees instead of 105. Progress, people. This means that my time outside is quadrupled.

Crunchy leaves!
Also, my music addiction is amplified. Valley Maker, Bon Iver, Missy Higgins, Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens, Thrice, Apache Relay. Only the best. I also have quite the reading list – War and Peace, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Velvet Elvis, Catcher In The Rye.
And then, there is the amazing realization that my friends will start baking again. (I would bake, but have you ever heard of Amelia Bedelia… yeah, that’s me). And I will eat those wonderful cinnamon, pumpkin, and chocolaty creations with pleasure. Well, that is until my cognitive dissonance kicks in.
But I think the thing I’m most looking forward to this month is training camp. In just 8 days I leave for training camp. I’m pumped. I’m nervous. I’m ready. I’m not ready. I’m freaking out. Welcome to my life.
This time of preparation and change has taught me how beautiful life is. Whether It’s in another country – making secretive plans to slap pimps and steal babies (which I will be doing), at training camp – spending time with my 65 new best friends (which I will be doing), or at home – enjoying things like a change in season, concerts, books, and the company of a wonderful family.
Life truly is magnificent – even in the ordinary.
Sometimes it just takes eyes that are willing to notice.

Thrice – During "The Earth Will Shake". Incredible
