hola!!!!

I’m so sorry for my long lost absence!

because of the blog silence in the sand dunes of Trujillo, i would love to fill you all in on what i have been seeing the past month here in Peru, and what a week looked like through my eyes!!!!

as a “prologue”.. i will give you the run down of the 4 main ministries we were at this month!! Optional to read, but you would probably understand a lot better!

ELIM- garbage dump ministry.

VBS and tutoring to kids/teens/ adults that live at or near the garbage dump.

IncaThaki– extreme sports ministry.

the inka-thaki kids come to the compound everyday (depending on their school schedule. different groups come morning and afternoon)

this branch focuses on ministering to the kids while learning a sport. this includes skateboarding, playing soccer, floor ball(hockey), and climbing the mountain to go sand boarding!

Mana- middle school/ teens after school youth group

Amijai– women and kids ministry.

it’s focus is on the mothers and the younger children in the trujillo area. while here we led the women’s devotionals/bible studies on mondays. Wednesdays the women come to the compound once a week to made crafts, while the children come to have playtime and a short devotional/song-singing/ activity as well.

Peru has been filled with abundance and exhilaration and a lot of growth.

MONDAYS:

to start, guide, and finish everyday- we get served the most delicious peruvian food by the one and only Mariela. Though not part of our ministry, she herself was such a big part of Peru and itd be selfish of me to not share her!

in the mornings we help clean at the organization we are staying at, Inca Link Peru.

in the aftnerron we lead the women’s/mothers bible study

at night we have worship together as a team.

TUESDAYS:

we work on fixing and painting a house specifically for the activities of Amijai. in the future it will be used as the new gathering space for them for the bible studies and all of their weekly crafts.

in the afternoon we go to MANA. we help in leading a devotional/ bible study.

at night we have team journey markers. these are questions that we go over and a think about every week to see how we are doing and keep us growing.

WEDNESDAYS:

in the morning we go sand boarding with Inka Thaki and the kids get into community and build trust with their leaders.

in the afternoon we make crafts with the moms and lead a small vbs with amijai. they make crafts every season to sell to tourists- and recently they’ve been making the coolest little christmas trees and llamas.

THURSDAYS:

this morning we would be helping for IncaThaki! they are making a new field for the kids, so we plow the corn fields!! (and in my case, spend the first 10 minutes learning how to do it!!))

feedback night! as a team we get to see each other as we are, and point each other back to who we know we can be. sometimes it can be hard, but it’s been one of the most beneficial things thus far.

FRIDAYS: this is our off day!

thought the month, this has looked like going to the mall, having our thanksgiving together , and going to Huanchaco beach!! here’s our ONE good family photo (,: <3

SATURDAYS:

in the morning we help incathaki and ELIM  with playing floorball. the kids school us, and it is so much fun. the kids get encouragesd/taught/built up by the leaders Brent & Javier.

in the afternoon we go to the actual garbage dump of trujillo and lead a VBS for the kids! this looked like acting out the story of esther, and singing spanish songs about How God is GRANDE!

the last saturday night we went to the coolest little christmas concert that was so much fun to be a part of.

SUNDAYS:

we go to church, then usually go to the mall to post blogs such as these!  😀

this is a peak into what Peru looked like this past month!

though short and fast, leaving this place is still so heartbreaking! i love when places and people are heard to leave, because thats how i know my heart is also there.

on next is guatemala for the next 3 months! my heart pounds with excitement and ahhhh!

we head to the airport tonight for our flight at 3 am!
