I leave in a week! This is nuts to me because I feel like training camp was just yesterday. This is going to be crazy next few days and not only because launch is so close or the fact that my family is getting a puppy but because of baseball. If you know me then you know I love baseball and especially my Detroit Tigers!

What makes this next week crazy for me then is that the major league baseball trade deadline is approaching which is one of my favorite times of the year. I will be sitting on my computer with every passing moment checking baseball scores, waiting for the latest trades, and reading the newest baseball news articles. I just love baseball however, baseball can become an idol with the time I invest into it.

Lately, I’ve been having a certain feeling about the game I love and then God made it so incredible clear to me what he was trying to say. I heard him tell me “you have put baseball ahead of me for a long time, it’s time to change that”. This next season God has asked me to be baseball free. For me I have been spending a lot of time with God preparing my heart for the Race but I never thought about preparing my mind and clearing it from distractions that can take my focus away from where it should be on the Race.

So while I am on this adventure for the Lord, I am not going to be checking baseball news and scores in my free time but I am going to use that time to invest in my squad mates and the personal relationship I am building with Christ. Sorry dad but we can talk about the Tigers next June when I come home. In the mean time this is a season for me and the Lord, not me and baseball.
