Words are power.

Words can bring life. Words can bring death.

The Lord uses words through other people to build up, to encourage, and to edify. For the past month since arriving in Africa, many words have been spoken to me and over me. Words of wisdom; words of prophecy about who I am and what the future holds; words of truth.

So is My word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

Now what? What do I do with these words? I can choose to accept them or reject them. I can merely hear the words, or I can do something about them.

The words spoken over me were of compassion and discernment, and prophecies of children around me in the future. The last one kind of freaked me out, but it is exciting to think about how God will use these words in the future.

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does.

-James 1:25

The two weeks we have spent in Back Door have been refreshing, quiet, and also busy. We’ve prayed with children at the local hospital, spent time getting to know the teenagers who will bring change to Africa, and brought color and the light of Christ to a preschool. We have also been blessed to be a part of the vision that the McKays have for Back Door. They have allowed us to spend time in solitude with the Lord, and have encouraged us with words of wisdom, prayers of healing, and hospitality.

In the morning, we drive four days to Mozambique. Our plans to find transportation, supplies, and money for construction were delayed a few days, but we are finally leaving in the Lord’s perfect timing bright and early in the morning! We will most likely be out of touch with internet while we are there, as Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. Please pray that the Lord will protect us while in Mozambique, and that His glory would shine everywhere we go. Pray that each of us will take to heart the words the Lord has spoken to us and will use the gifts he has uniquely given us!

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalm 119:105

I’m ready for destiny
My tresses are curled
I’ll take what is rightly mine
With curtains unfurled
I will not quit I won’t be forgotten
I’ll shine, I’ll dazzle and more
I’m ready to take a bow
I’ve taken a solemn vow
My destiny here and now
I’ll astonish the world!
