When the earthquake struck Haiti this January, I immediately knew God was calling me to be a part of His purposes there. I love to serve, I love to meet a need. And there is definitely NEED in Haiti! So in less than 24 hours I will be on a flight to Port-au-Prince, Haiti on my first trip with AIM since the World Race almost 2 years ago. I will be leading a team of 8 other young adults in relief work and ministry in the devastated country. I’m not sure yet which ministry location I will be stationed at or what type of work I will be doing – but I do know I get to serve alongside 8 incredible servants for the Lord and be obedient to whatever work He asks me to do there.
I’ve known that I was going on this trip for a little over 2 months now, but its now, when I’m counting down hours instead of days or weeks, that the reality is really beginning to sink in. My fears about heat and dirt (yes I really just said that) and malaria and being out of my comfort zone and most of all – not doing enough. I fear I won’t do enough for my team, enough for the people of Haiti.
I believe that God has such great things in store for the country of Haiti. And though at this moment I am scared and nervous and excited and anxious for this new adventure, I am so thankful I get to be a part of what He’s doing there!
Come, let us return to the LORD.
He has torn us to pieces
but he will heal us;
he has injured us
but he will bind up our wounds.
Hosea 6:1
*Please be in prayer for me: for leadership, for health, for guidance. Please pray for my team: for unity, for health, for each individual’s strength and growth, for the work we will do together. And especially, pray for the rebuilding and spiritual atmosphere of HAITI!!
