It makes sense that the Bible would overwhelm us right? That talking about it and thinking about it would produce feelings of excitement and joy. I mean it is the living Word of God, for goodness sake!! Let that sink in…. The Bible is…God, the creator of the universes, living, spoken, and active word!!! That should overwhelm our spirit’s. It is not a casual thing, because when it is grasped, my soul finds rest and cries out for more!
Well something like this happened today. We joined Hope Church, the church we are partnering with here in Romania, in one of their projects called the New Testament project. They fill New Testament Bibles with testimonies in English and a phone number to call if they would like the testimony translated. The translation then gives way for conversation for people who are truly interested. Starting the day, I did not think much about this. I thought it was really cool that they passed out Bibles and that that was what we were doing for ministry today, but as we were passing out Bibles, specifically to one particular guy, the Spirit moved. I handed the man a Bible, but I did not just hand him a book, I handed Him the Word of God. I handed him the armor of God, the Belt of Truth, the answer to life and death, the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:10-19). After that interaction I was reminded how powerful the Bible is. How powerful giving a Bible to someone can be. If God is calling just one of these people into His Kingdom, then through the Holy Spirit, when they open the Word of God, they will experience the presence of God. I fully believe and have faith that the work we did today, was one of the most powerful works that could ever be done. God of the UNIVERSE has spoken and here it is!! This paperback book is more than a book but the answer to your whole existence!!
Join me in praying for the people that received God’s word today. That the Lord would use His word to touch the hearts of the people that received them. That the Bible would not just be tossed onto a counter or shelf, but the Holy Spirit would move them to open the pages!
