The night before we began our hike back from the Mojos we started talking about the hike and different parts of the trail. There is one part of the trail that is pretty scary. You walk along side a cliff where there was a landslide, so there is not really a trail. You have to be very careful where you put your foot in order to make sure you will not slip and fall down the side of the cliff. This part of the trail scared me. I did not want to go back over this part. I was scared that I would fall down. But the morning of the hike, my verse of the day on the Bible app, popped on my phone and it was Isaiah 41:10. I hear this verse all the time, but I needed to hear this verse more than ever that morning. God was speaking directly to me and my fears that morning.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
I read it once and did not think much of it and then it spoke to me directly for the hike home.
Fear not, Calli, I will be with you every step of the way home from the Mojos. I am your God, I called you to go to the Mojos, and I will go before you as you leave. I will give you the strength through the hard parts of the hike. When you want to quit on the uphill’s, I will strengthen you and help you. When you get to the part of the hike that frightens you, I will uphold your feet. You will not fall, because I will be upholding the mountain and your feet upon the mountain with my righteous right hand.
This was a constant reminder on the hike home and as we got to the part of the hike that frightened us, I was no longer afraid, because I felt and knew the Lord was upholding my feet upon the mountain and was directing every step.
And it went further than this. As we began our scary bus ride back to La Paz from Apolo, where the bus drives on narrow roads on the sides of cliffs the whole way, again the Lord spoke to me and said I will uphold the bus. With His Hand He was upholding our bus upon the mountain and protecting us from danger.
The Lord is faithful!!! He will guard us, protect us, and uphold us as we follow Him into His will for our life! He’s good.
