Hello Friends, Family & Supporters,

As I am preparing to send out support letters and hand out the t-shirts from my first fundraiser, I sit in awe of how God is already providing for this trip ($335 from the t-shirt fundraiser ??). I also want to share my perspective on how I am viewing fundraising, as $19,200 plus is a bit to ask for.

I, sometimes, catch myself looking at the total cost that is needed for this trip, and just hear my mind feed itself lie after lie. You can’t do this. That number is too high. There is no way you’re going to make it. But then, I simply lean to God, because I know that I am not the one that is going to provide this. I have fully given this trip to God, even the financial side. I am learning that if it’s where God wants me, He is going to provide.

Here is a little story of what made me make this decision:

The other night I was driving home from work, exhausted. I was picking up extra hours, because of taking two months off for Haiti. I found myself second guessing this whole trip, maybe I was just in over my head, and not listening to God. This can’t possibly be what God has planned for me next. I am struggling to make it now, and I was only gone for two months. How am I going to survive financially after 11 months on top of all the funding that is needed for the trip? As I was filling my mind with all these lies, I tuned back into reality and was singing what was on my radio. As I was shouting the words of Here’s My Heart by Lauren Daigle I realized that I wasn’t giving everything to God. So, I gave it to Him. In that exact moment that this was happening, a STRANGER donated FIFTY DOLLARS.

SPEECHLESS and in tears.

I have been constantly telling the people who say, “how are you going to pay for that,” that God will provide. When I finally gave it to Him, that is exactly what is He is doing.

I have shared that story with some, and have heard “$50 is almost nothing compared to the total cost” and yes, in a way, you’re right. But in that moment, God provided, exactly what He knew I needed.

I was talking with a friend, about why it’s taking me so long to start fundraising and I simply am just terrified to ask people for money. Everyone needs money for something, and to be the one asking for money, I just couldn’t get myself to do it. I have written several support letters before, and I didn’t want this to be one where people see I am leaving again and set the envelope aside. A friend said to think of it as a partnership. Think of it, this time, as them coming along side you. And that really spoke to me. I have met so many people that have had a heart for missions but they can’t do it because of age, health concerns, kids and so many other reasons. But they love hearing my stories of how God is using me. I never thought to think of it as a partnership. The ones who support me, even if it’s not financially, are partnering with me. Coming along side me and doing this these missions, or in other words, God’s will, with me. I found it comforting to think about it that way, rather than just asking people to give me money for this call that God has set on my heart.

So as I send out support letters, and continue to fundraise, please pray with me, that I don’t forget to see the beauty in fundraising. As it is easy to get caught up in the numbers. Pray that God starts speaking in the lives of the people that He had planned to provide. Pray that I continue to prepare my heart as August is going to come quicker than my mom would like.
