Howdy! My name is Callan Edquist and I am a senior at Texas A&M University in beautiful College Station, TX.  I have lived my entire life in Texas aside from a 9 month stint in Arkansas and do truly love it here.  I guess the best way to tell you about me is to tell you about some of the loves of my life:

Family:  My family is backbone and my rock.  I have been blessed with two amazing parents.  They have given me every advantage in life and have always completely supported me in anything I have wanted to do.  My mother and father both possess so many qualities that I respect, and hope I can gain one day.  My mother loves me more probably than anybody in this world.  She has always been there in rough and low times, no matter the circumstance.  My father is a great man of God, and the person I look up to most in this world.  He is not without his flaws, but he has shown me what it means to be a man, and what it means to take responsibility for who I am and what I do.  My sister is someone I have always looked up to.  I have always, since I was little, wanted to be around her and her friends.  She is currently on the July 2008 race and will be finishing up at the end of May.  My brother is the pride and joy of the Edquist family(no offense sis, you can read her thoughts on the subject below in the comments).  He is the smartest, most talented, most gifted, most attractive, and most charming Edquist child.  I do not think I could handle that pressure but he is probably the best under pressure as well.  He will be starting at Vanderbilt next year on a FULL RIDE. -(Who is this kid)  My family is my heartbeat.
Friends:  During my 22 years I have come across some wonderful people. I have been blessed with some beautiful friendships that I charish deeply.  My roommates in college have got to be at the top of my list.  These men have helped me grow into who I am today.  They have challenged me, and my thought process in a very real and unique way and I am forever in debt to them.  They are what has kept me going from day to day the past three years.  I also have a few good friends from home that I simply do not think I could have made it as far as I have without.  These include both friends my age, as well as my parents.  I have been blessed with a plethora of God-fearing men and women in my life and I hope somewhere along the way I have been able to soak up some wisdom.  Friends from high school are now distributed throughout the state, and even the country.  I believe these people know who they are and I thank them, because I would not be who I am without them.
Faith: And lastly, but certainly not least is my faith in Jesus Christ, redeemer and friend.  I have grown up in the church and don’t have a moment I can tell you when I have my life to him, but I do know that my faith really became my own summer after freshman year in high school.  I have experienced high and lows in my faith, but it has remained the one true constant in my life.  I am writing this as the last week of lent rolls around, and we begin to celebrate Easter.  What a magnificent day to celebrate, because it is in the resurrection that Jesus fulfilled the scriptures and after a short time joined his Father in heaven.  I have grown so much in college and I do not think this is a temporary trend.  The Lord has taught me so much, least of all being how small I am and how BIG he is.  I am completely excited I get to stop everything, all the noise, for one year.  And just live in harmony with him and his people.
I do not doubt this year will be rough at time and possibly downright miserable.  But I do know we are not here on this earth to simply be comfortable.   I hold my life and my plans, hopefully, with an open hand, always ready to make a move this way or that.  I truly believe to be in the Lord’s Will, and trust that I will be pushed and challenged this next year, but all for my benefit.  God does not care about comfort, but rather character.  And I honestly believe I will come back with much more of this.
Thanks for reading about me!
