Month 8 flew by just like that. I got here and now am saying my goodbyes once again. This season is soon coming to an end. If the months keep moving at the speed they are now I’ll be home before I know it. This month in Costa Rica I have been partnering with Oceans Edge Ministry. This ministry is such an inspiration by the way that they care so much for their community.
Ocean Edge Ministries is a Christ-centered non-profit association establish to positively impact the world by helping others live the abundant life through a personal relationship with God and a mission lifestyle. They do this by mobilizing volunteers to positively impact the world for the glory of God, facilitate growth through mentoring & training, and hosting like-minded ministries, teams and individuals on The Edge Ministry Base.
The Edge Missions Base is located in the heart of Jaco Beach, Costa Rica and is managed by Ocean’s Edge Ministries. Their heart is to see others reach their God given potential spiritually, relationally, physically, professionally and financially as they positively impact their local community and beyond for God’s glory.
The staff has showed us nothing but love and care since being here. Every morning at 8 am we have morning stretch and devotions with one of the staff members Steph. We also have each been blessed with mentors that meet with us once a week to talk, encourage, and disciple us. While we have spent a lot of time getting poured into, we also have been able to pour out in the community and bless the staff at Edge.
We’ve been a part of surf club, prayer initiatives, nursing home ministry, helped out with Edge projects, and blessed the staff at Radical church and Horizon church by cleaning, teaching Sunday school, and helping with youth group.
Surf Club
This is a family activity where kids between the ages of 4-8 can learn to surf, hear a positive based message and care for the environment by cleaning the beach. Their goal is to create a bridge to the Church and have a positive impact on the community.
Prayer Initiative
The local prayer initiative is a program created to help promote positive movement in the community. We offer free marketing, volunteer service and prayer. What we have been doing is going around the town updating the local business list that Edge previously had created. As we write down every business name we pray for each business and the owner. Eventually they will take this list and the ladies from Horizon church will take cookies to each business and follow up and begin building relationship with the owner. Their hope is that through this they will experience the love of Jesus and give their hearts to the Lord.
Hannah, founder of Ocean Edge ministry believes that Jaco Beach will soon be known as a place of eternal hope and the overflow will impact the world. I love the vision that Hannah has for this ministry and the town. Please be praying for her and her husband and their two kids as they serve in Jaco. Pray for provision and that everything would fall into place as they work on expanding this ministry and the Edge base.
The Lord this month has been teaching me that in order to pour out effectively we need to be poured into and filled up and how equally important it is. As I go into month 9 my prayer is that I would slow down, take time to rest, and protect my Sabbath. Thank you all once again for your love and support. The Lord is so faithful.
