I just wanted to give you an update on where me and my team are and what the Lord has put on my heart. We made it safely on Thursday to Manila, which is the capital of the Philippines. We are so blessed to have such an amazing place to stay for our first month of ministry. While we are here we will be working with Kids International Ministries also known as KIM.
Some of the needs here at KIM include:
Working at the children’s home– While the children are in school we have the opportunity to work with the toddlers teaching them their numbers, colors, shapes, and alphabet. We can take them swimming or just hang out with them and play games. There are also three babies all under the age of 3 months. On Saturday, I had the opportunity to look after them so their caretaker could have a break.
Working in the birthing clinic– They just moved the birthing clinic from the school to their own building. Saturday, we finished painting it. We have been given the opportunity to help out when mothers come for checkups. This morning I was called to the birthing clinic and was able to assist in delivering a beautiful baby girl weighing 7 lbs, 1 oz. What a blessed experience that was.
Feedings– They happen twice a day at 9 am, and 4 pm. This past week I went to a feeding in a village close by where I was able to show the love of Christ to the kids and attend a mother’s bible study.
Devotions– Me and my team have the privilege of leading devotions each night for the kids in the children’s home. What this typically looks like is singing songs, reading a bible story, and putting on a skit. At the end we have time to read one on one with the children from books taken from KIM’s library. This is a continuation of a previous volunteer group’s ministry, so we are currently praying about how we can make it our own.
This past week has been filled with so much joy and laughter as we settle in here in the Philippines. I can feel the joy of the Lord radiating through each of the kids I come in contact with. Hereat KIM there are so many opportunities to love on these Kids and to share the Love of Jesus. I am so thankful for all that I’ve already been able to be involved in and I am really looking forward to many more opportunities to bring Kingdom.
Thanks so much for reading! ~ Calin
