We are a week into our time here in Malaysia, and God is breaking me of every expectation I thought I had. When we arrived, we found out our first week here was going to be spent with another World Race team from another route. The first night being with them we were told that serval of the girls had lice. So of course, my whole team had to check to make sure we didn’t have it. I sat down to get checked and was so ready to hear, “You don’t have lice”, but instead I heard the words “You have lice!” I was convinced I was never going to get it. I even did things to help prevent it. Come to find out I had gotten it back in the Philippines and went a whole month without even realizing it. Having this other team with us for the first week was definitely a blessing in disguise. I don’t think we would have realized I had lice along with one of my other teammates if they weren’t there. It was quite an experience. The nights where we were so tired and just wanted to go to bed was not a thing. We spent many hours at night this past week going through each other’s hair to make sure we combed out every last nit. I am happy to say that I am finally lice free thanks to all the wonderful people who helped me to get rid of it.

Our month here in Malaysia is different than the first two months. Here in Malaysia we are not allowed to talk about Jesus which makes ministry really tricky. We came in expecting to be teaching but the school year has ended and does not start back up until January so all the schools are closed. So instead we will be working with our host doing Christmas programs, Christmas caroling and making hospital visits. Our host has built relationship with the people in the town here so he is getting the word out about our Christmas programs. Please pray for each person who comes out. It may be the first time they ever hear about Jesus. We are really focusing on building relationships with the locals and loving on people. We have met some  teens and have started playing soccer with them to build relationships.

This month we are spending a lot of time praying for Malaysia. There are a handful of different religions here. The majority of the population practices Islam. Something me and my team has been doing is going on prayer walks through the town.

A few things that we pray for are:

  • The town- salvation, peace, healing, unity and the economy
  • Neighborhoods where drug dealings take place- supply would be cut off, activity to be stopped, repentance and transformation
  • Chinese Temple/ Hindu Temple- strongholds and bondages would be broken, the leaders would find Jesus
  • Prostitution that takes place in the motels
  • Gambling Centers
  • Bus Stations
  • Churches/ Ministry- student salvation, purpose and transformation of believer, and evangelism

We have three more weeks here in Malaysia and are expecting God to move. Please continue to keep us in prayer and for the rest of our time here.

Much love, Calin
