It’s been a month since I have been accepted to go on THE WORLD RACE and God has already been blessing me in crazy ways. He is so GOOD! What a faithful God we serve. I’ve learned that when He calls you to something He will ALWAYS make a way.
As people continue to take interest in my trip, there have been many questions, so I thought I would answer some of them.
What Exactly Is The World Race?
The World Race is an 11 month intensive discipleship program designed to challenge the norm through tangible expressions of God’s love.
The World Race is sponsored by an organization called Adventures In Missions. This organization has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989.
Participants go through an application and interview process for a specific ROUTE. My route trains in August and launches in October 2018. I will return to the United States around September 2019. I will return to Georgia, USA approximately 1 month after The World Race, for an additional debrief session with October squads.
Where Will You Be Going?
I will be going to 11 different countries where I will spend one month in each country. The countries I will be traveling to are: Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador. As of right now, this is my route but it is subject to change depending on the safety of that country.
Why Are You Going?
I am going because Christ has called me to go and share the love of Jesus with people around the world. I have a heart for the lost and I’m looking to make a difference for the kingdom of God, grow in my walk, and build relationships with other believers. My desire is that everyone I come in contact with, experiences the Love of Christ.
What Will You Be Doing?
We will be partnering with local ministries to share the gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to those in trafficking, teach English, and bring hope in Jesus’ name. Each day may look a little different depending on the needs of that country
We will have some “time-off” to engage, explore, reflect, and refresh. I’ve been told that weeks usually consist of five full-force work days, one adventure day, and then one rest day.
Who Are You Going With?
My route consists of approximately 40+ individuals (young professionals)… this is my SQUAD. As a squad, we will travel together to the same countries and meet-up for occasional debrief and leadership weekends. However, our ministry locations and work will differ. Upon arrival of a country, we will split into TEAMS. Teams are 5-7 individuals who DO LIFE together. We are with each other 24/7. We give each other genuine FEEDBACK everyday to help sharpen each other (this is a real thing… every single day!) and we submit weekly CELEBRATIONS & CHALLENGES to leadership for accountability and encouragement. Each person in a team has a team role, decided by leadership during TRAINING CAMP. These roles include a team leader, treasurer, communications point-person, and more. Teams will likely change 1-2 times, while abroad. Training camp will be held for ten days in the middle of August in Georgia, USA. Training camp is all about team building and preparing physically, mentally, and spiritually. This is six weeks before LAUNCH. Launch takes place a few days in October in Georgia, USA before we travel to our first country. This is the final training and preparation. Loose itineraries will be assigned.
While abroad, the squad is backed by a squad-specific leadership team. This includes SQUAD LEADERS, alumni Racers who travel some with us and identify/raise up new squad leaders within our squad to lead. We also have a marvelous crew of SQUAD MOBILIZERS, MENTORS, COACHES, TRAINERS, COORDINATORS… and more! We are well cared for!
How Much Does It Cost?
The total cost of the mission’s trip is $18,700. This covers ministry costs, meals, lodging, air, land and sea travel for 11 whole months, as well as medical insurance and training camp.
God has called me and I know without a doubt He will provide. He already has in so many ways.
How Can I Help You?
The number one thing you can do is PRAY!
- Pray for me as I prepare spiritually and mentally
- Pray for God’s hand of protection over me and my team members
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will have complete control and leadership in our lives
- Pray that every stronghold against the Gospel will be taken down
- Pray that souls will be won to the Lord
Another way you can help is by donating. If you would like to, click the orange “Donate!” button in the top right-hand corner. Every gift is greatly appreciated.
I hope this answers some of your questions and gives you a better understanding of what I will be doing beginning in October.
Days on The World Race will come with challenges, but knowing that this is something God has called me to, will make it a little easier. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I would love to talk to you.
Sincerely,
Calin Medeiros
