This month has been absolutely incredible! God has been so good to our team and He’s been at work in my heart in more than a few ways, so when I sat down to write this blog I didn’t know where to begin. Overwhelmed by His goodness I haven’t been able to choose just one way He has shown up this month, or been able to decide on just one story of how I’ve experienced His love ; I want to share them all. So well this blog won’t be the deepest or most profound you’ll ever read I think it’s a testament to how good our God really is. Each night when we sit down as a team to connect we share our “highs and lows” or “blessin’s and lessons” from the day. This blog was inspired by this practice of ours.
Blessin’s
-Living conditions; We have been blessed with a newly built missionary house, it’s clean, relatively bug free, we have beds, hot showers, and the ability to do laundry with a washer and dryer
-Contacts; Our ministry hosts could not be any sweeter and their hearts for the Lord and His work are inspiring! We are here to serve them yet time and time again I find them serving us, it’s been an incredible way to experience the kingdom.
-Ministry; This may be my favorite blessing…if that’s even a thing? We’ve spent this month at Rehoboth Children’s home, they also maintain a farm, and have just built a medical clinic. Our ministry has looked a little different day to day; we’ve spent time cleaning the clinic, doing office work, helping out in the classrooms, and we’ve done some work outside (i.e. tried to take an ingrown fence down…but we had too much fun with the machetes and they sent the men in to finish the job the following day) But a majority of our ministry is just loving on the kids.
Orphanage ministry touches the hearts of half of our team on a deeper level and that’s why it’s my ‘favorite’ blessing. 5 out of the 7 of us feel the call on our lives to adopt so to have the opportunity to love on the orphans in the Philippians has been really special. And I know at least for myself that He has used this time to grow my passion for the fatherless.
-Adventures; From swimming in waterfalls to riding on top of bus’s through the mountains, I’ve been surrounded and constantly amazed by Gods’ creation
Lessons
-One of my goals this year is to read the old testament…joyfully. I’ve started in Genesis and though discouraged at first, God has changed my attitude and given me both a desire and a genuine joy to read through the books of the old testament. He has graciously given me teammates who love and understand the old testament, they’ve come along side me, encourage me daily, and been yet another blessing. God is teaching me that He is just as awesome to read about in the old testament as He is in the new, maybe even more.
-The other big thing God has taught me in this first month is that He has gifted me, and empowered me through the Holy Spirit to use these gifts. I am excited to continue to rely on Him this year as I walk out in faith and learn to serve in the ways He has designed me for.
Thank you to each of you who have and are supporting me this year! God is at work in this place and you are part of that! I will be sad to say goodbye to Rehoboth in a week but I can’t wait to see how God is at work in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam in the coming months! I am only $4000 short of being fully funded! If you would like to continue to be apart of what God is doing in the nations through the world race, or if you haven’t yet supported but want to, click the support me button at the top of the page!
