*This blog was written by the other 5 girls on Team Emunah. Each paragraph is one of us telling you all how much we love Caley and have seen her flourish over the last 4 months as a team!*
Caley Bass. She has a gentle spirit. She is a tough fighter. This girl is fierce, and I think she is about to explode in growth. The Lord is warming her up, and this girls flame is about to fiercely ignite. When this happens, the growth that happens is going to spread so quickly to those around her. Caley is an influencer, even if she doesn’t know that about herself yet. She has influenced me to live more holistic and to be free and fun. She is so joyful and is INSANELY fun to be around. She knows how to have a good time. She is a safe place and a really good listener. I trust this girl with anything I tell her. Growth for her over the last 4 months has looked like sharing the really hard things. The hard things that make you squirm and make you feel dumb for saying it because the enemy tries to get you to stay quiet. She doesn’t though, she fights through that awkwardness and uncomfortableness and shares what is on her heart. Even if she has to awkwardly laugh and makes jokes to make herself feel better. I love this about her. My heart is so happy to see her do the hard things and be vulnerable. I know it is difficult, but the fact that she does it shows determination and fight. Watch out world. Caley Bass is a tough fighter and every month she is knowing more and more of who she is in Christ and her worth in Him. She is about to fully grasp that, and the enemy will have no chance in the Kingdom that this girl is gonna build. We are all going to witness some BIG things through Caley because of the Lord. I love you Cales. You are so sweet, fun, and lighthearted. I need that so much in my life. I am praying that the Lord will take you deeper and that you will know your FULL worth in Christ. I know it is going to happen. You are pursuing Him and we both know that the word of the Lord won’t return void. Love you sister!
Holy moly frijoles! I have such a radical love for this woman and am entirely too blessed to call her my friend and sister. From late evenings gabbing about life to deep moments shared about our lives, I am thankful for all the memories that have been created with this lady. She has shown me how to remain calm even when I feel overwhelmed by it all, she has shown me how to keep a smile on my face and ‘chin up’ even when I feel down in the dumps, she has simply shown me what joy can really do for a person’s heart, mind, and soul. I will never forget my time running around with this girl and seeing her childlike spirit reign free, but then sitting down and hearing her mature thoughts on relationships between us as children and our Father. It has truly been such a joy to be around this person and get to know her at her roots. I had an instant draw to her at training camp (my initial thought was that she and I were definitely going to be good friends!) and I attribute that to her glowing personality and her excitement for everything in life. I have gotten to be there as this woman has blossomed in so many aspects of her personality while on the race. In month one she held back in the vulnerability department with us, but as God urged her to open up she did so and invited into her heart and thoughts. We were able to understand so much more of her life as she shared with us each week, and it was just such a beautiful thing. She began to be the first to answer team time questions, be raw with us about where she was at, speak up and share her ideas and opinions on things, and so on! Her voice has simply grown so much stronger, just as her discipline in seeking after the Lord has too. I am eternally thankful for the time I have gotten to live and journey with this endearing, joyful, loving, inspirational, woman that God has blessed this world with and I look forward to all the reunions and life events to be shared post race. So much love for this woman.
There are so very many things i could say about my precious friend, Caley Bass. Just her name brings a smile to my face. This is a woman I have come to cherish so deeply. I knew she was special early on, but every month I’ve seen more & more what a treasure this girl is. Caley is one of the kindest, most loving people you could ever meet. Once I started living with Caley, it didn’t take much time to see that she didn’t even know how to think of herself before others — her default is selflessness. If there’s something that needs to be done, Caley’s your girl. She isn’t afraid of doing hard things & will step up to any challenge brought to her, even if it’s light years outside her comfort zone. Caley is a genuinely caring person no matter who you are, but she’s even more amazing if you’re a kid. Every time there are kids around, you can bet you’ll also find Caley down on their level, doing anything & everything they might find fun. She knows how to connect with them & make them laugh & she knows how to bring the shy ones out of their shells. My heart gets all kindsa warm fuzzies every time Caley is with kids because the love she gives so naturally to them is nearly palpable. But her fun side isn’t reserved for kids. No — Caley is busy making us laugh at all hours of the day. Everything from her amazing faces to the perfectly timed responses to good old dad jokes — Caley is a massive amount of fun. It’s impossible not to have a good time with her. & the dancing…oh, man does this girl makes you wanna dance. She can dance to any song at any time…& dang, that girl knows almost every song ever written! If she doesn’t respond to something awkward with a joke, she’ll probly respond by dancing. I love this about Caley so much! The way she does life just puts people at ease. But if you’re not careful, I think you could miss something about Caley. She’s so genuinely sweet & fun & hilarious that you might think that’s who she is. But though all of that is so good, Caley Bass is so much more. Caley is a mighty woman of God unafraid of doing what has to get done, even if it’s hard. The past 4 months she has led our team over & over in vulnerability & honesty. She has fought off the overwhelming feelings that can come with living in community — feelings if comparison, feelings of her words being of less importance than others’ words, & feelings of not being a person who makes a difference in our lives — she’s chosen to shake off those feelings & pursue truth. She has chosen to take what God has to say about how much He loves her & act on that by fully opting into this team. She has boldly begun really taking time for herself because she has learned that she needs it if she wants to give to others. She has chosen to speak up even when she feels her words might be inadequate because God’s Word says that she is a vital part of our family, & she’s doing like so many Christians are too afraid to do. Caley Bass is a beautiful, precious treasure of God & is beginning to really live that way. It’s actually something that I have struggled with as well, so to see Caley living this way — shutting down the voice in her head that says she isn’t enough & giving everything she has to offer — I want to live like that. Caley has spent so many years letting other people’s needs & wants outweigh her own, which is why I can see her immense strength as she breaks these patterns. & this girl — she has so much to offer. As a teammate who has lived side by side with her & watched her grow, I am telling you that she is becoming a different woman. Caley is making choices every day to pursue Jesus more. She is spending the time in His Word. She is talking to Him. She is listening to Him. This sweet, thoughtful woman is turning into a more committed follower of Christ & a leader of His people. It is such an honor to watch her progress & she has inspired me so much this month to go deeper. Her love for her family at home & commitment to our team here has made me better. Has made me stop to pray more often. Caley’s got big things ahead & I am so honored to be called her friend & watch her soar. Go baby, go — leap! You got this 🙂
Caley – Caley loves the beach and any form of adventure. As well as having ice-cream anytime of day…it’s her favorite thing. Caley is such a ball of energy. She is always up for anything. Any challenge or anything that comes her way she is always up for it and she will push through anything. She is a strong woman of God. I love how she always has a yes spirit and she leads so well in that. She is a faithful woman to her God, family, and her friends. She is honest not just with her walk with Christ but also just how she is doing. She has grown in demonstrating boldness and honor. She is trustworthy with not just the little things but big life things. She will seek after your heart and nurture it and take care of it with all that she has. She loves others so deeply and so well by the Holy Spirit.
Oh Caley, Cales, Calbert, Calberta. This girl. This girl right here is something else. Well, she is great because she is from North Cackalacky. She is such a warrior woman. This girl thrives in community and it has been such a joy to be a part of the first four months. She is so faithful to listen when something is going on. And though it isn’t always easy to speak up, when she does it is beautiful and full of wisdom straight from the Log. Not only is she faithful to her friends, she is faithful in her relationship with the Lord. She has grown so much these first four months. She has been leading us well. She doesn’t always like to hear this, but one of my favorite things is her ability to always be filled with joy. In any and all circumstances this girl chooses joy and it has inspired me deeply. Another great thing about Caley is that she loves to have fun. There’s never a dull moment with Caley around and she never fails to encourage me (even if it is by dancing). It has been such an honor to be on the same team as Caley this first four months and I can’t wait to see what she continues to do for the Kingdom in the remainder of the Race. Love you Cales!
Love you Caley Bass!
Love,
Candace, AJ, Alyssa, Shelby, and Amber
