7 more months before my team and I embark on this journey God has called us to!!?! woah woah woahh!! It is crazy to imagine the change to come during that season but even crazier to see all the changes happening right now.
This is the first summer I have been home since I left for college four years ago. The previous three summers I have had the privilege to work at a wonderful christian camp called Camp Willow Run. Even though the Lord closed the door for me to work there this summer, He gave me the opportunity to work there for one week #whatagift. The amazing camp speaker, Andrew Stocks, did a great job and God truly spoke through him to remind me of why we are placed on this earth. “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13
As believers, God calls us to be the salt of the earth and spread His gospel around to whom ever we come in contact with. Salt is such an essential ingredient to food and adds so much flavor. Without it, most things would be bland and ain’t nobody want that. Working at camp makes it easy to sprinkle the Good News to others because it is our job to share it with campers and we are in such a strong christian community (which is such a beautiful thing). However, this summer how I spread God’s salt is going to be a change from what I have been used to for the past three years. I’ve been praying that I will not lose the drive to throw God’s salt in others lives because everyone should know how much He loves us!
As a christian, I know that we can get slack in this area and decide to keep the salt to ourselves. But I want to remind anyone who is reading this that we are meant to salt the earth and if we don’t, then we no longer truly have a purpose. So I want to challenge you (myself included) to add flavor to your daily life through the Lord and sprinkle that salt!
