There are points in the Bible that can be debatable and I think its always good to hear other people’s theologies. It can widen your view and make you seek more wisdom from the Lord. It can also grow your relationship with Him which is what we always need to be striving for. But I don’t think we should get caught up in who’s right and who’s wrong because that’s where the devil attacks and distracts us from the most important thing; the Gospel. There are also some things we will never know the truth about until we get to heaven.

With that, I truly believe anyone who has declared God as their Lord and Savior and meant it, no matter even if their life doesn’t reflect it, will go to heaven. God says no one or anything can snatch His children out of His hands (John 10:28). When you see people rebelling against the Lord who once followed Him, it’s like a child rebelling from their parents. That doesn’t mean that kid is no longer a part of the family. God has so much unfailing love for His children and won’t leave His children’s side. However, it is important how we live our lives here on Earth. God wants more for us than to just get into heaven, that’s just the smallest reward. There are rewards in heaven depending on how we lived our life here on earth (Colossians 3:23-24). However, God has given us free will and let’s us decide how we live and what we do with our life. In 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 it reads,

“Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials— gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgement day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.”

Reading these verses this morning made me question what I am building on my foundation of Christ. I don’t want to live a mediocre life in this broken world, just slipping into heaven. I want to live a life full of freedom and one that pleases God. If you read further in 1 Corinthians 3, you’ll see that we are to be foolish to be truly wise in Christ. The world will think we are foolish when we live for God and if that’s what it takes, then I want to be a fool.

Being in third world countries it has been amazing to see how people who have nothing live so boldly and faithfully for Christ. It’s humbling to hear their stories. It makes me wonder why people who are so poor on Earth can have so much joy in Christ when people like me living in America have so much and put God on the back burner. Please don’t think I’m calling anyone out, this is what God revealed to me. But if you do feel a pull, maybe that’s God trying to reach out to you. So to everyone reading this I do want to ask, what are you building on your foundation? Are you living to just get into heaven or do you want to live your life to the fullest and for what God has created you to do?
