Today as I sat out by the water I began thinking of all the Lord has done in my life. For those of you that are unfamiliar with my testimony, about 2 years ago I was really lost but now I am really found. 🙂
Though I thank God often for what He is currently doing in my life, I haven’t actually sat down and taken the time to think about all He’s saved me from and helped me get through.
As the list lengthened, gratitude and joy spread through my heart. ~ He has saved me from a life of selfishness, destruction, and confusion. He mended relationships that I never thought could be healed and brought me on my first mission trip to Guatemala last December where He reminded me of my life’s purpose.
He has also lead me to the church, The Well, where big steps towards inner healing have taken place. He even introduced me to wonderful Christian friends, mentors, and role models. He has repaired and strengthened relationships in my family and restored the communication that we once lacked. He introduced me to HUGS Ranch where I got to be a mentor to many children over the summer and make friendships that will surely last a life time.
He is also reminding and showing me each day that I DO have purpose and that I AM valuable, when before I felt like I was worthless and as if my life had no meaning. He is breaking down walls and strongholds that I either didn’t know were there or once thought impossible to break. He has showed me the importance of the Holy Spirit and now He is leading me to take an 11 month mission trip where He will teach me more on discipleship and how to expand His kingdom.
I encourage you to begin writing out all that God has done in your life and pay attention to what it starts to do to your attitude and your heart. ESPECIALLY do this when things seem to be going all wrong. For many of us it is easy to focus more on the bad than it is the good. Having a heart of gratitude is something we should strive for. For some it may come more naturally but for others it is something we have to refocus on each day.. maybe even multiple times a day. By doing this our relationship with the Lord strengthens and joy begins to overflow in us as well as out of us to others.
-My prayer to the Lord-
Father in Heaven,
I come to you with a thankful heart for all you have done and are doing in my life and the lives of those around me. Thank you for the good times as well as the tough times and for the wisdom and strength that you give me to make it through. I’m grateful that you are always with me and that you are a God that offers comfort and peace. Thank you for never giving us more than we can handle. Thank you for this life and for sending Jesus to die on the cross for all of our sins, guilt and shame. I thank you for sending me on this journey to further expand your Kingdom and to show love to your sons and daughters all around the world. Please help me shine bright for you Lord and for people to see you through me. God I give you all the honor and glory!
Amen
