I made it to Peru! After 4 days in buses I finally made it! The culture and scenery here is beautiful! I absolutely love my new ministry hosts and ministry! Food here is delicious and I couldn’t be happier to be here with my brothers. For those who don’t know, I will be staying with only my team of guys and not with my whole squad. We will all reunite in Guatemala after this month here in Peru.

God has already taught me so much since arriving here in Peru and it’s only been 1 week! God has taught me what grace and sacrifice really means. He has shown me His endless love and I couldn’t be more grateful. While doing devotions one morning I had this vision of Jesus just sitting right next to me and I could just feel His love surrounding me. Another cool thing that happened this week was for ministry we set up a fundraiser for the orphanage that we are serving at and my team and I were there to help watch and make sure nothing got stolen. After a few hours of keeping guard, this little boy and his mom walk up to the tarp full of toys and the mom was asking her son which toy he wanted and the little boy picked out a tonka construction truck that was all beat up and he begged his mom for it. While waiting in line the little boy just kept playing with it and having the best time ever with this old beat up truck. Once it was their turn in line, the mom asked how much it was and the volunteer said 10 sole, which is the equivalent of 3.33 American dollars. The mom ended up saying “no thank you” because it was to expensive. The mom tried finding a cheaper toy that the boy would like and play with but this boy couldn’t take his eyes off this toy. The mom ended up having to walk away from the tarp because he didn’t want anything else. As they walked away I could just see the sadness and distraught in this little boys heart.  After they walked away I got this strong urge from the Lord to get this toy for the little boy. I went up to the volunteer and I bought it walked over and handed it to the little boy. He looked at me with the biggest smile and his mom said “thank you”. I walked away thinking that this boy would surely get bored with it in minutes and I asked God why He had me do this. I mean yah, the boy smiled and it made me feel good but what was the deeper meaning behind it that God wanted me to get from it? Time passed and I go back to my duty of watching over the toys and forget all about it. About 30 minutes later I see the little boy running around the little park still playing with the toy truck. The Lord showed me to find joy in the little things He blesses me with and taught me what it means to be grateful for what I do have and how blessed I really am.
