Hello everyone, my squad and I have safely arrived in Guatemala a few weeks ago. My team and I are now teachers for different school subjects at a small outdoor school in San Lorenzo, Guatemala. I’m excited to share about our ministry in later blogs. But allow me to take you back to a time that my team and I had while teaching in a local elementary school in India. (While that is a whole story itself, I wanted to bring up something that happened after ministry). After teaching at the school we had the chance to go visit and pray for a little brother in need, Simon.
Simon is 1 1/2 years old and lives in a neighboring village. Simon was born with a rare deformity in his lower back that results in an extremely serious case of scoliosis. His condition has gotten progressively worse since it was discovered at a free medical camp a few years ago. It has now started to compress his abdominal organs, which results in extreme and constant pain, a fever and flu like symptoms so he often sweats through his clothes. Despite the pain Simon is such a cheerful little boy and If Simon does not get treated soon he will not be able to walk as he grows up, OR maybe even something worse.
Our dear brother Simon is in and out of local hospitals very often but none of the hospitals there are capable of preforming the surgery he needs. It is now looking like the best option is to get him to New Delhi, which is very far away (as we were in FAR northeast India, our location we were closer China than New Delhi). In order to do that, they need to raise around $12,000. Yes… I know… more money right! Most of you who are reading this blog have already supported me TREMENDOUSLY in this season prayerfully and financially. I just want to encourage and ask of whoever reads to consider praying into the possibility of supporting this little boy however you may feel led. I will leave the link to his Gofundme below.
