It’s Sunday morning and we are getting ready to preach. Rachael, Taylor W., and I are going to one church. As we head off to church we were informed that we would be preaching at two different churches instead of just one. Alright, Rachael was prepared to preach at one church so now we just need to decide who else was feeling called. We determined to wait and see how the first service went. Church began with worship, more drums and dancing then Rachael began to preach to the church congregation of 9: the pastor, the drummer, a woman and her two children, another young woman, and the three of us. However it didn’t matter the size of the church the Spirit was still working. After church, the entire congregation piled into a taxi van that smelt like fish and drove off to the second church.

As we dropped people off and more people got on we discussed who was going to preach at the 2nd church. I said that I wasn’t feeling called to preach, and Taylor said she would preach. Then the ladies asked me what would happen if I was asked to preach, I said would be willing and ready. So we get to the 2nd church and we begin with worship. After worship, the pastor asks us who is preaching and we tell him that Taylor is preaching. Then he points to me and tells me to follow him. I wasn’t sure what was happening as he lead me outside. We walked behind the church and he lead me to a small building filled with children. He told me that I am going to share a message with the kids. So there I was standing in front of 30+ kids without any of my stuff. No notes, no bible, no phone, just me. No worries, I was prepared. So I began sharing the same Bible story that I had led the day before for our children’s sports ministry at the beach. After I finished telling the story of David and Goliath, I taught the kids several songs and a memory verse.

Then Rachael and Taylor came and asked the kids what they learned. After the kids answered we went back to the church service. I sat back down and then the pastor asks me to come to the front. I am like here I go again, another message. I was ready, after all I had just given one unexpected sermon, here’s to another. However the pastor just had me share my name and tell about myself as I had missed the introductions earlier because I was in children’s church. After my introduction we prayed for the those in the church who needed healing in some aspect of their life. Afterwards we were walking back to our van, and the ladies told me that after the pastor came back to the service they asked him were I was. He told them I was preaching to the kids. Then they told me they laughed as I had said earlier that I wasn’t feeling called to preach. I responded that’s because I was supposed to preach to the kids. We all laughed. The moral of the story, always be prepared to preach. When we started the day only Rachael was going to preach and in the end we all preached.
