Hello Friends,

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I can’t believe the impact that The World Race is having on my life before I even launch! God continues to surprise me in the most incredible ways! It’s been an outstanding few weeks and with my next fundraising goal drawing near, God continues to amaze me with his faithfulness. In the past week He has provided more than $2,000 leaving us less than $2,000 away from the $10,000 goal! Just like Smokey and the Bandit, we still have a long way to go and a short time to get there. Tomorrow is the deadline but I absolutely know that He will provide.

What has surprised me more than anything about fundraising is just how much fun I’m having. Now, asking your closest friends and family along with perfect strangers for money may not sound like a ton of fun, but the conversations that it has sparked have truly been priceless. As I continue my walk, continue to grow my relationship with God, and continue to share with others where I am at in my journey, they continue to open up and share with me. Far beyond sharing their financial recourses, people continue to share their stories, their wisdom, and even their questions. Conversations that would otherwise be focused on sports, video game, or politics are now focused on Him.

Another surprise came through blogging. I’ve never been a big social media guy. Up until a few weeks ago I never had an Instagram and would rarely use Facebook. I still haven’t figured out the whole Twitter thing, but we’ll just take this one step at a time. Recently I’ve been trying to be a bit more active to share with everyone my blogs and fundraising goals. After sharing my last blog post, three different people that I hadn’t spoken with in years reconnected with me and shared about how they have been following my journey. I can’t tell you how encouraging and motivating it is to know that not only are people reading my blog but also relating to it!

I once had a boss tell me money isn’t a motivator. At the time I thought that was an excuse for him not to give me the raise I thought I deserved. Maybe it was, but it wasn’t until years later while working for a nonprofit that his message sank in. I realized that I have a passion for people. I realized that I was motivated to spread God’s love and compassion and treat others with dignity and respect. It is that passion that motivated me to pursue The World Race. It may sound a little ironic but it is that passion that is motivating me to raise money.

For me, The World Race is far more than an eleven month mission trip. It is training for living a life on mission. It is an opportunity to strengthen my relationship with God, share His love and live each day focused on Him. In order for me to launch with my Squad in January, I need to raise about $2,000 in the next 24 hours. It’s a big chunk of cheddar, but I know with God it is possible! Please consider partnering with me. Your prayers and gifts of any amount mean the world to me. THANK YOU!
