For me, one of the hardest, and most rewarding, ministries here has been the men’s group.
Honestly, it’s really hard for me to be around men. It always has been. I have no idea what to talk about! They wanna talk about sports, cars, work and I wanna talk about deep theological topics, emotions, music, dance. But somehow, the guys here are just a little different.
Everyone here has a story. I can’t go into full specifics of their lives but some of these men were in gangs, did/sold drugs, alcoholics and they all have one thing in common: they gave their lives to Jesus. Their faith is DEEP and they have fallen in love with the God Israel. They are quick to give up their seats in church for families to have a place to sit, quick to hug, quick to forgive, quick to serve, and quick to listen. If anyone was “beyond forgiveness” it’d be these guys. Good thing no one is beyond God’s grace.
If you’re ever in Medellin, Colombia, stop at Ciudad Refugio and ask any one of these guys their stories. You wont regret it.
