I love camels.
Why?
Camels are made to travel long distances through parts of the world where nothing is supposed to survive. In the desert, everything is out to kill you. Living in the desert for a month, in Peru, I know this to be true because even the trees have thorns with dangerous toxins in them. I’m very familiar with said trees because I accidentally stabbed myself on them while clearing the bush with a machete and couldn’t feel my right arm for two days.
Anyways, camels are awesome. They’re strong, sturdy, and have a attitude (like me!). They can cross the desert with hundreds of pounds on top of them without needing water every hour. You can ride them or store your belongings on them or you can ride them and have stuff on them too! The possibilities are endless.
Over the course of this race I have seen four camels and you better believe I jumped out my skin with excitement when I saw them.
