I have landed safe and sound in The Philippines. Ive been here for a couple weeks and im loving it. When we got here we got to meet our hosts and they are a really solid family who i am very excited to live life with for a little while.
Our ministry is all over the place. They run a camp here for the street kids in Manila. They have an opportunity here to both show the love of Christ to these kids, and also disciple and build up younger Filipino adults to run this camp and have the awesome opportunity to do this kingdom work as well.
We have also been doing destruction and construction in order to move the “snack shack”, which is a small business they have in order to help raise fund for the camp. It has been awesome working with a man named Rudy who would put the energizer bunny to shame. Its crazy to see this man work. He always has a smile on his face while he works and hangs out with us.
The church we are with also has a few pre-schools in different areas. We got to go on a little scouting trip for a new location, and it was possibly the coolest weekend of my life. First we had to take Jeepnies (google it) and motorcycles up a mountain to a small jungle/mountain town. We saw a bit of they’re community and we held a small youth service. It was awesome to be a part of it.
That weekend we also went on a hike where we crossed three rivers, walked barefoot through mounds of mud, and swam in beautiful waterfall swimming holes. The Philippines is so beautiful. Our way back we crossed 9 rivers in our jeepny, got stuck in the mud twice, and rode on top the entire way.
