Most of you have heard that in this next year I will be spending a lot of time in a team of 6. Well actually I will be working, living, eating, playing, traveling, singing, crafting, lifting, squeezing, jogging, snoring, laughing, crying and pretty much doing EVERYTHING with my team in the next 11 months. And so as you can imagine, I will be talking about them a lot, and so I want you all to meet them.
N SQUAD-
The way this trip works is that Adventure in Missions is sending out about 120 missionaries. They split us up into two squads of 60 people. I am on N Squad.
Oh man do I love my squad. There is a huge love for God, a love for having fun, and WE LOVE TO DANCE A LOT (which you guys know is near and dear to my heart)! We have 2 squad leaders, Robby (in beanie laughing on the floor) & Tara (who was doing a leadership school in Spain so we haven’t met her yet). They both have been on the race before and will travel with us the first four months or so and then pass the torch to two of us to take over that role.
Since this is a lot of people we were then put into teams of 6 or 7.
Here is my team:
Team 12:18
Miranda, Matt (leader), Caleb, Lauren, Me, & Simone
I don’t like to brag, but I will…. We are awesome =)
When I say that God works in mysterious ways, I mean it. There is no way I would have thought to put the 6 of us together. We are very different people with very different personalities and range from ages of 21 to 34.
The first day we were put together we kind of looked at eachother and were like “God are you for real?” But then as time went on it became very apparent how much God was in control. Our different personailities are what will make us stronger, and really be a TEAM unified by the different strengths we have.
I am so excited to serve alongside these 5. They are soon to be my family, so please pray for all of us.
Our team name came about by a lot of trial and error. We really believe that what you are called affects the way you think. At first we wanted a funny name, then a serious one, and then we just wanted to be nameless cause nothing was working.
But then Matt, our team leader, found this verse: 1 Corinthians 12:18 “But in fact God has arranged the parts of the body, every one of them, just as he wanted to be.”
That is what we think about our team. We really believe that we were put together for a reason. That God divinely appointed us together cause He has great plans for us this next year that are bigger than anything we could imagine.
12:18 is a reminder to pray for our group
We chose to be named 12:18 cause we are a body like in 1 Corinthians, but it is also a chance to be prayed for WHICH WE LOVE!
We are asking our supporters to pray for us whenever they see 12:18 on a clock.
That way we will be covered in prayer daily when people see that time and at crazy hours of the day.
So here we go. Team 12:18 is headed out to go do all the great things that God has in store for us, but we need your prayers.
Please pray for…
–Support. We still need some financial support to come in.
–Compete surrender. We want God to work through us.
–Unity. We need to be like minded and depth as a community.
–Health. Pray for our health and safety along the entire race.
–Integrity. Pray that we will sharpen one another through being real, loving, and forgiving.
Thanks everyone!!
I am getting really excited.
