Tomorrow I will be saying goodbye to the amazing country of Lesotho and the Africa 4 Jesus base that I have called my home…how can one month pass by so fast? I’ve now just entered into my third month of the Race and I can’t believe how the time I’ve been here has passed. “The days are long but the months are short.” That quote has proven very true in my life. Sometimes it feels like I’ve been on the Race for years and then I realize it’s been only two months and I will soon be leaving the continent of Africa within the next week and starting ministry in Asia. As my time here nears its end, I take time to look at all of the amazing things this continent has brought me.
I’ve seen how speaking the native language to people can bring almost an immediate smile to their face. I’ve seen children, who get maybe one meal a day, playing their hearts out and having endless energy. I’ve seen that simple acts of kindness speak more words to a person than I could ever in my life time. I’ve seen people come to Christ.
All of these things are amazing and happy and I will never forget the amazing time I’ve had in Swaziland and Lesotho. I’m sad to leave such an awesome place with an amazing people group and culture, yet I’m excited to start my next step as I go to India. I spoke with my dad about how happy/sad I was about leaving and he told me. “It’s pretty great though that you get to go from one good thing to the next, even though leaving it is hard.” You always know the right things to say dad.
This will prove true throughout the rest of my race as well! I will always have goodbyes but I know that because I have the Lord walking with me, I have left good things behind as I step into good times ahead.
Ways to pray for me:
- As I step into India, that my heart will be prepared for whatever comes my way.
- For the people of India, that their hearts will be open to the message of Christ.
- As my team and I say goodbye, that we will see just how much we have impacted this place, how we’ve left it better than we found it, and that saying goodbye shouldn’t be sad because we will see these awesome people again. Even if it’s not in this life.
Thank you all so much for reading and supporting me through prayer! You all are amazing and I can’t wait to update you again when I’m in India!
