I wish you all were here with me so you could experience the beauty of Guatemala.
The last 6 days have been filled with so many new experiences. When I stepped off the plane in California it was my first time on the West Coast. And when I stepped off the plane in Guatemala City it was my first time in a new country. I can’t even explain to you how it felt to be in a completely new place, in a completely new culture.
Many times since I’ve been here I have questioned whether this is real, it's almost unbelievable. I have prayed for so long for God to provide a way for me to visit the nations, and He has. Sitting here in Antigua, Guatemala I can’t believe I am finally living out a dream I have been praying over for so long.
So here’s a jumbled blog of the last few days…
Leaving:
Before I stepped into the RDU airport I couldn’t image what it would be like to leave my family for 11 months. As I hugged my family for the last time and stepped into a new stage of life I felt it hit me hard. I cried for all the memories I would miss this next year, and for my family. It was hard to distance my mind from the sadness I felt as I flew from Raleigh to California. But, in all my tears I was reminded that this is what God has called me to do, this is what I have prayed for, and there are people who need to know the love of God.
California:
“I hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan.” I felt this part of the blog was best started with a Miley Cyrus song…haha. California was amazing. I spent the day with two of my squad mates, exploring the city, seeing Justin Timberlake’s house, and watching the sunset on the beach. California is beautiful, you should go some time.
Guatemala:
There is so much to say, I know it won’t all fit in this blog. We landed in Guatemala City and took a bus ride to Antigua, which is where we have been staying these last few days, and where my team will be this month. We have been spending our time preparing for our ministries, and FINALLY tomorrow we will start working with our contacts! I am so excited about what the Lord is going to do in Antigua, I know He has amazing things in store for my squad and I cannot wait to share stories with you!
Volcano:
Yesterday, we hiked a volcano. Yes, a volcano. A smoking volcano, in fact. Pictures coming soon.
Thanks:
I cannot express how thankful I am for your support. For each dollar you have put into my account, for each hug you have given me, for every word of advice you have spoken to me, for every prayer you have prayed over me. I am so thankful you decided to join me on this journey, and I pray it will change your life, just as I know it will change mine.
I will end with a few pictures from California. Hope you enjoy!
