“Dragon Breath! Only 10 RM for a whole cup! Come try it! Give it a shot”! I heard this guy yelling at us trying to entice us with his this steaming “biscuit” in his hand. Intrigued by the steaming cookie and his sales pitch, we stopped at this booth on Jalan Alor. This street is packed with vendors left and right. So many different smells, especially the booths that sell durian. We stopped at this food stand where this stranger gave us a steaming treat to try. “LIQUID NITROGEN” he animatedly said, trying his best to get us to buy a cup. We tried this interesting, and delicious treat and began chatting with the two guy’s working the booth. Kevin and Ian were there names. They looked around the same age as us, so we began chatting about their business and their day. We would come back and exchange smiles and high fives every time we returned to Jalan Alor. After the second time seeing them, I wrote both their names on a post it note. Each day I would pray over their names that through us, they would come to know Jesus.
Around our second week in KL, we went to the market for team time. We tried durian, cried because we died a little inside as we swalloed, and kept exploring the market. We saw Kevin, our dragon breath friend, selling his fun little treat again. We shared how we tried durian, how awful it was, asked him how his night was going. One of my teammates noticed Kevin’s shirt under his apron. We noticed it said ‘JESUS’. “Kevin, are you a Christian” she asked. His face lit up as he joyfully responded, “YEAH! I AM! How did you know?!”. Our team began jumping up and down and in unison like a choir on Sunday screamed, “YES! SO ARE WE!”. Kevin began to tell us how both him and Ian attend the same church, how they serve in there and invited us to come that following Sunday. WOW! We were just filled with the joy of the Lord as we rejoiced. Meeting a Christian here isn’t that common. That night, we walked down Jalan Alor with the biggest smiles. People must have thought we were crazy. That we were on some kind of drug perhaps.
No, we had just experienced another blessing of the Lord.
The first night we stumbled across Dragon Breath
