Dominican Republic – “Meeting People Where They’re At”
This is Nathaniel. 5 years old. Probably the youngest at the boy’s orphanage. He seemed like the loner in the group. Always by himself doing his own thing.
So I met him where he was at by sitting next to him and being interested in his LEGO’s. I assisted him by holding his pieces when he wasn’t using them and then being amazed by his finished product.
After a bit, he went off again by himself. I saw him sitting on the ground looking at a stack of books.
I met him where he was at by walking over, sitting next to him, and looking at the books with him. He was looking at a leaflet with Jesus on the cover and I pointed asking if he knew who He was. He said God. I said yes, it’s Jesus. He said no, it’s God. I said we’re both right!
It was a simple moment, but I’ll always remember it.
Folks, it doesn’t need to be difficult. Just meet people where they’re at and the Lord will use it.
