You caught my eye as you stood in your little front yard as we drove up in our 15 passenger van. You were grinning ear to ear, waving like you have been awaiting our arrival all day. I? saw you right off the bat, and I? knew you would be my girl. Something about your joy drew me in. You captivated me.

Our first play date was in the field. I? was suppose to be cutting grass but instead I? was playing in the haystack with you. We threw strands of hay at each other for hours, and just laughed.

Your laugh echos in my mind. I miss you saying my name. Your smile is engraved on my heart. I miss the warmth of your hand in mine, just thinking about it makes my heart skip a beat.

How can I? love you so much?! You are so vastly different than me. You grew up in the small village of Harbuchulule, Ethiopia. You are growing up with no parents. You have two outfits to your name, and you rock them both. I? love you as if you were my own.

I? don’t want to think about your short three years here on this earth. I?t hurts my heart too much. I?t hurts thinking that your mother didn’t what you anymore. I?t hurts thinking about nights you may have cried yourself to sleep because you were hungry. Or thinking about the sights you may have seen with your little brown eyes. I? don’t want to think about that… but I? have realized it has made you who you are today.

You have taught me so much about our Heavenly Father. You’ve taught me how to love others sacrificially. With no strings attached, meeting them right where they are.

I promise to love you forever. I will go to battle for you in the Heavenly realm. I will tell all my friends and family about you, and the memories we shared.

I pray I will see you again. I know God is good and faithful, so it is never out of reach for Him. Know you will forever be my little girl. My Senna baby!

My prayer for you:

That you would come to know the loving grace of Jesus Christ at a young age. And because of that heart change in you, you turn this world upside for the Kingdom.

That you will have a deep desire to listen to your Papa’s voice and obey Him because you know He is for you. May you find comfort in the shadow of His wings, always seeking wisdom. That you will never forget where your confidence comes from, even on the hard days. I pray little one, that you will always know where your worth is found. Walk boldly in the security and authority of Jesus Christ.

Never take your eyes off Him, may they forever be fixed on His face. May you fall in love with the Word, and store up His commands in your heart. And as you learn more about your God, you will have a God-centered life full of joy and laughter.

And I pray every time you here Jesus’ voice saying, “follow Me!” you will go with great grace.

Go be a world changer little one! You are victorious in Christ, all the days of your life.
