Dear Friends:
For some of you it has either been days, months, or even years since I’ve had the privilege to be with you. That doesn’t mean you haven’t been in my thoughts and prayers. With this letter I am delighted to share with you what I’ve been up to recently. In December of 2006 I finished college at Asbury with a degree in Media Communications. During my last semester, after many promotional emails from Adventures in Missions, I applied and the next day was accepted to be part of their World Race.
World Race? Yes, for an intense eleven months I will be traveling to eleven different countries around the world. During that time I’ll be with a small team of other dedicated individuals working hard to fulfill God’s great commandment and commission. Among the wide range of tasks we anticipate along the way will be building up churches, ministering to the locals, and participating in discipleship. This opportunity will allow me to dip my feet in His work around the globe while learning more about His people and their needs. I looks forward to being His voice and heart to the nations while using the skills He’s given me throughout the years. The trip begins in September of this year and until then I look forward to a time of growth where the Lord will continue to prepare me as His disciple.
During my time at Asbury God gave me specific ministries to be part of. They include street ministry, teaching, preaching, and leading small groups, prayer, and even advocate for the global AIDS pandemic. I’d be blind and ignorant to say all these opportunities came to me by chance. I love more than anything to be with my God and His people and with each opportunity the Lord led me to I’ve been shaped in a unique way to serve Him by serving His people. While I’m away I pray and expect many more doors to be opened where the Lord can use me to reach His people and care for the needs at hand.
This is your invitation. It is where you can join me in this great adventure! Since I was accepted in the Fall I’ve been praying for you. God gave me a great passion and excitement as I thought of your involvement in the World Race. Both prayers and funds are needed to help this ministry change the world. Teams have already left and the cost of one World Racer is $13,000 for eleven months. Yet, I can’t wait for the Lord to bless your prayers as you hear stories from around the world. I can’t wait for you to feel His love when He answers your prayers on my behalf. I can’t wait for the Lord to multiply His gifts upon you as you graciously donate financially to support this life-changing ministry.
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which invites you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions. You may write “appealed by” and my name in the memo section of the check if you wish. Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with all the necessary information. In turn, they will send you a receipt. All gifts are tax deductible.
Thank you for your time and the influence you’ve had on my life. You can check out more information concerning the World Race at www.theworldrace.org or my World Race blog at caitlinwoodward.theworldrace.org. I wait to hear of the changing stories He brings to your heart through this ministry.
Love and Prayers,
Caitlin Woodward
