We’ve finally made it through our final days of training. The past week our team was reunited as one to get more teaching and team building pumped into our already packed and anxious heads and hearts. Fortunately, preparation (in more ways than one) is done and the September World Racers are ready to head out.
Having been at the training camps before here at Adventures in Missions I came prepared for the conditions. We use a garden hose for a shower, porta-potties for everyone, and…new cabins three stories high. I thought these were the coolest things I’ve ever slept in. True the mattresslessness was hard on my back and I prayed for my life every time I stepped down the ladder but it gave me a new perspective of what was around me. The entire week brought me a new perspective.
Community – that was an issue the leaders here at AIM focused on a lot. I am so thankful they did. Personally, I thought to myself that I could do this World Race thing by myself – so says my independent, selfish, stubborn mindset. That’s not how God made us. Even though I’ve been more comfortable being alone most of my life, deeply my heart cries for true community and accountability within the Body of Christ…what we are called to really be and live. Now, I can’t wait to see how much more Jesus can be seen through our team being one.
Worry –
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6 -7
With everything that could or couldn’t happen within the next year my list of worries/freak outs became so long. Forget it! We can only take 44 lbs. worth of junk to Asia anyway, and worry weighs too much. Yet, God simply tells us to tell Him what we need and thank Him for what He’s already done. Thank You!
Faith – This has been a beautiful growing theme for me. I don’t need to see everything in order to step out comfortably. It’s not easy but slowing down enough to soak in all God has for me day by day allows me to listen to the details of each step He has for me. I want to wake up in God’s arm, live passionately for Him alone, and lay my head down knowing I couldn’t have down anything more.
Faith in a powerful God leads an average life into an exciting adventure wherever you are. Community in Christ is my base of this next year and leading into the rest of my life. And worries – sorry I can’t fit that on my carry on.
