an invitation to intimacy
with all of my heart
i hunger for You. all i want and all i seek is true intimacy. with all of my

here i stand waiting Lord touch my now like never before. let me stay and be
transformed true intimacy is what i’m longing for.

When
we had a time of debrief in Manila a few days ago Seth Barnes Sr. posed this
question to the 26 of us who had been away from “home” the past three
months: What’s the bottom line of the World Race?” Right…we’re already
out here, no chance of getting back to the safety of our our coasts, and he
asks us this now? Weren’t we supposed to have all the answers before we left?
So I asked God:
When I prayed You
gave me the word “intimacy.” I believe that’s what You want from me
this year. I have a heart for my team, the World Racers, the people of the
countries, my family, my friends…You want my heart before I give it away. You
want a closer relationship with me.
Then
I looked up ‘intimacy’ to figure out truly what this means.
intimacy
– close familiarity of friendship; closeness.
intimate
– closely acquainted; familiar, close
Interesting.
God doesn’t call up some day unexpectedly and say we can’t be intimate because
it got too hard. He’s not scared of being close to me. In fact, He wants that
closeness more than anything. His love goes past the surface. He cares about
the details in our lives. To Him, I am worth getting to know.
It’s
an invitation, a proposal, I haven’t taken seriously. Not seriously enough to
be so caught up in His love that I’ve lived it as though my life depended on
it.
