First off, I just want to say THANK YOU for all of the support so far. Thank you for the words of encouragement, thank you for the prayers, thank you for subscribing to this blog, and thank you for your financial support. I am blown away by all the love!
I have put together this Frequently Asked Questions post so that the information is easily accessible and in one place for you all. Please let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know!
1. What are you doing? The Amazing Race?
One of my good friends kept calling it the Amazing Race when I first started talking about the World Race. No, I’m not going to be on TV. The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries around the world to serve others and to share the love of God. For more information on the WR, check out the link here!
2. What organization is the World Race a part of?
Adventures in Missions. To learn about AIM, check out the link here!
3. When do you leave?
September 2014! It feels like a long time from now, but I know it’ll be here before we know it! I will then return August 2015.
4. Will you be traveling alone?
Nope- I will be in a squad of 40-50 people, and then in a team of 6-8. Our squad will travel from country to country together, and then I will be living and working with my team. They will be my family for the year!
5. Where are you going?
Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica! However, these countries are not set in stone– the route can change at any time based on natural disasters, war, etc.
6. What will you be doing all year?
Every month will look different– we could be volunteering at an orphanage, teaching English, visiting patients in hospitals, manual labor, and partnering with local churches.
My family sure got a kick out of the thought of me doing manual labor for a month. Psh.
7. Will you still be able to keep in touch with everyone back home?
Absolutely! I will be updating this blog as much as I can with stories, pictures, and prayer requests. Feel free to leave comments at the bottom of the blogs, send me emails, Facebook messages, the works! You can also subscribe to this blog by clicking here– you will get an email notification every time I post!
8. Are you getting paid to do this?
Nope. I will be working and fundraising to pay for the journey. How much, you ask?
$16,254 total.
$15,500 of that covers travel, lodging, meals, administrative costs, set-up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs.
$754 of that covers my medical insurance while overseas.
While that is a giant and intimidating number, I know that the Lord will provide, and YOU can help me reach that goal!
9. How can I help?
There are a bunch of ways you can get involved!
–Pray for my team and me. Pray for our safety, health, team unity, and for the people we meet along the way.
–Donate toward my fundraising.
–Enouragement– subscribe to my blog and spread the word about my Race!
10. When do you need the money?
These are the financial deadlines that I have to meet in order to go, and then stay, on the Race:
- $3,500 – Deadline MET!!!
- $7,500 – Deadline MET!!!
- $11,000 – Deadline MET!!!
- $16,254 – TOTAL Due 3/1/2015 (End of 6 months on the field)
You can give a one-time gift in the amount you desire OR you can choose to donate monthly. All donations are tax-deductible.
11. How can I give?
You have a few different options to choose from!
- Credit Card/ Bank Transfer: You can donate online by clicking on the Support Me! link. From here, you are able to choose to make a one-time, monthly, or quarterly donation. All donations made this way will be charged a transaction fee of 2-3%.
- Check/ Money Order: Please make the check payable to Adventures in Missions, put my name (Caitlin Strecker) on the memo line, and then mail it to:
Adventures in Missions
P.O. Box 742570
Atlanta, GA 30374-2570
Please mail only one check per envelope. No transaction fee for this donation option.
- Electronic Funds Transfer (Dynapay): Go to adventures.org/dynapay to fill out an online form for a monthly Electronic Funds Transfer from a checking account. No transaction fee will be charged for donations made through EFT.
If you are considering partnering with me financially, please know that whatever you give will be a blessing. I just ask that you seek the Lord, and follow however He is directing you. Whether it’s $50.00 a month or a $10.00 one-time donation, I know the Lord will use it to do great and powerful things, and I am so thankful.
