Sooo I know I have been lacking majorly in the blog department and I am so sorry for that! I'll get better i promise! I also am not very good at this blog thing soo please bare with me 🙂
But here is just a little recap of what happen in my first month in Zimbabwe.
My team (team Ignite) and team Redeeming Dust took a nice long 23 hour bus ride to Mutare, Zimbabwe where we met up with our contacts Jenni and Felix (who are awesome by the way!).
We jumped into our next ministry right away. For a couple days our teams worked in this slum called Sakubva where we helped with this volunteer feeding program called Tarfara. At Tarfara we would have a devo with the ladies who helped volunteer in the morning. Then once devo would be finished we would help make lunch for the children. Everyday for lunch we helped make sudza, which is corn meal that is cooked, along with chicken or beans, and some type of vegetable. Once we were done serving lunch to the kids we just had some free play time. It made me smile to see how happy and and excited these kids were.
We also went to these organization called Gogo Olive where women from the slums or from prison come and knit together staffed animals and keychains that they sell. We got to spend the morning with these ladies just getting to know them asking them about their life. We also had a small devotion with them as well.
In between the days of working at Tafara we got to go to Fairfield Orphanage one day. Where we just got to spend time loving on all of these kids and just playing with them on their day off from school. At Fairfield they have about 75 kids there from the ages of 2 to What i really liked about Fairfield is that instead of all the kids living in one big house they are actually all living in separate normal sizes homes. It is set up like on big community. and in each house there is different aged kids so it is set up like a family.
On our last day of ministry in Zimbabwe we were able to help clean a deaf school and hang with some of the children that attended the school. We also got to participate in a deaf church service, where we did a mime skit for them.
After It was a great first month! It went by waayyy to fast! So after our time in Zimbabwe out teams headed to South Africa! Leggoo month 2!
