Hey Everyone! Here is just some basic info about my Race route and some FAQs for those of you who want to know a little more about what we will be doing.

There are 41 people going on my particular race route (January 2012 route 3). This is called our squad. Our sqaud's name is E Squad. We will be traveling together to the countries together. There are two other squads leaving in January as well (C Squad and D Squad) but we will most likely never seen them as they are going on different routes to different countries. Once we get to a country we will divide into teams of about 7 people each and go to different places within the country.

My team is called Team Therros wich is Greek for courage.

The Countries we will be going to are:

January: El Salvador
February: Honduras
March: Nicaragua
April: Thailand
May: Cambodia
June: Malaysia
July: Tanzania
August: Rwanda
September: Uganda
October: Nepal
November: India

For more info on these countries you can go to http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=routes&subtab=january-2012-3
Our route could change for safety or other reasons, so stay tuned!

The World Race is run by Adventures in Missions and all credit card and check donations will be tax deductible.

I do not know exactly what day in January we are leaving or where in the U.S. we launch from but I will know in a few weeks and keep you updated!

We are giving up many things this year, including much of our stuff. For the next year we fit everything into one backpacking backpack. This includes our tents, sleeping bags, clothes, sleeping pad, and mess kits. We will be camping for some of the months, and other months we could be staying with a pastor's family or another contact that AIM has provided. I don't think we will find out until we get there!

Ministries can include:

Building churches
Fighting human trafficking
Caring for the homeless
Teaching English in schools
Ministering through prayer
Providing Orphans with homes
Reaching out to Prostitutes
Feeding the Hungary
Preaching in Churches

I also noticed this in a World Race Brochure and I think is explains really well the vision of this trip:

What Makes this Trip Different from Others?

Listening Prayer: Racers are taught how to hear God's voice and respond in obedience through ministry and service.
Discipleship: Racers are discipled while on the field and are encouraged to duplicate  that in ministry through building meaningful relationships with local people.
Community: Racers live in authentic community not only with one another, but with the people they're ministering to.
Ministry to the Poor: Racers go to the places of greatest need first.

We have also just completed a week long training camp outside of Atlanta where we were prepared for all kinds of situations. We practiced serving and living as we would overseas and became a family as we all had to work together overcoming many challenges.

If there are any more questions please let me know!!
