Ohh my goodness! How can it already be here? In my head I know I have been on this journey for 22 days now but it feels as if I just left the states yesterday. This month has flown by and I still has so much to share with you about what God has done in me and others around me this month.
Today we recieved our much anticipated ministry info for Australia!!! N squad will fly out of Auckland to Brisbane, Australia on the 27 of January. Team Radiance will continue on to Darwin in Northern Territory to work with a ministry called Wheels of Fire. I have heard that Darwin is one of the hottest and most bug infested places on earth!!! We are going during their wet season so hopefully that means we will keep cool and the bugs will be in hiding 🙂 We only have a little information about the ministry but from what I understand they work with many differnt aboriginal groups across the Katherine area.
Here are some facts in a book my team found on Australia…
Aborigines are the country’s most disadvantaged group. Statistics show the sad results of the colonial experience: the average life expectancy for Aborigines is 15 years shorter than that for other Australians; they have three times the infant mortality rate and a far higher incidence of both communicable diseases, such as hepatitis B, and “lifestyle” diseases such as heart failure; an unemployment rate six times the national average; half the average income level; and a large proportion living in sub-standard housing or temporary shelters. Adult Aborigines are 16 times more likely to be imprisoned than other Australians.
I am so excited for the upcomming month. Please pray for my team as we are closing out our time in New Zealand and preparing for our month in Australia. We may have very limited internet access. I will try and post as much as I can including my final thoughts on our ministry time in NZ as well as pictures. Love you all. Thank you for all your love and support!
