Welcome to month 9!
Can you believe…I have 79 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE.
The last time we spoke, I was informing y’all that I was, indeed, FULLY FUNDED. Praise be to Jesus. A lot has happened since then, and I’ve fallen down on the blog front. I apologize.
Month 8 was spent in Eldoret, Kenya, about a 7 hour journey from Nairobi. We spent the whole month helping our contact build his church, literally. We learned how to build the physical structure out of logs of trees and nails…and learned how to mud the walls of a building. Good stuff.
At the end of the month, we headed to Nairobi to meet up with the rest of our squad. Since it was our month 8 debrief, we had some special visitors come out to the field. The Dupree’s (squad coaches), TFizz (our squad coordinator), and our 2 alumni squad leaders, JDubb and Momma P blessed us with their presence. We also debriefed with LSquad (another squad that launched in Sept.) and BOY were the worship sessions A-MA-ZING!! Debrief was a little rough for me though…a couple of my good friends on the squad left the race. The Lord had called both of them back to the States. I had to remember that the Lord is sovereign in all circumstances. Man is that hard.
Then, we had another team change during debrief. I am still on the same team I have been since Cambodia (month 4), but we swapped out a girl for a girl. My good friend, Kristen Currie, is now a part of my team. The Lord knew what He was doing when He put her on my team for the last 3 months. Praise the Lord.
Sooooo, I think we’re caught up to speed….
I’m currently in Tanzania, in Tabora to be exact.. aka the middle of nowhere! ïŠ We are doing evangelism ALL month, and after one week we’re exhausted..and I’m not afraid to say it. We arrived in Tabora after finishing our month 8 debrief in Nairobi, Kenya. Our bus ride was 11 hours on some of the most hellacious roads I’ve ever been on. Once we got here, we found out that we were the first and last race team to be here, AND our contact spoke ZERO English. We felt defeated before we even began. Our team had to have a come to Jesus meeting about planting seeds this month. We had to remind ourselves that we can only PLANT the seeds, and our Father is the one who waters and sows. Amen.
This month we visit (mostly) Muslim homes from 10-1PM, then we have children’s ministry from 3-4, followed by church every single night from 4-7. Please pray for perseverance and patience for the 7 of us.
We’re leaving the 27th for Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania to catch a plane to EASTERN EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH. MY. WORD. I cannot express how FREAKING excited I am to get to Europe! I have been looking forward to these next two months the entire race! Months 10 and 11 are shaping up to be my favorite months of the race!
We still don’t know an exact return home date yet…still awaiting that exciting piece of info! It’s looking like the 30th or 31st of July! ïŠ
Teaser: I am getting extremely excited and ready for the next season of my life after the race. A blog will be posted in the next couple weeks about what’s next for Caitlin! Stay tuned.
Again, thank y’all for the prayers and encouragement! Please keep them coming, even if I am almost done with the race!
Love,
Caitlin
