The picture you see on the news is not the Haiti I see. When I see Haiti I see redemption. Yes Haiti has been through a lot this year. Yes this country is in great need spiritually, economically and physically.  There are many facts that you could point out that would speak to the brokenness of Haiti. All those facts are true but what is more true is brokenness leads to Grace. The truth is God loves Haiti so much and God is at work in this place.

Everyday I wake up and see God’s redemption. The kids that I color, read, sing, talk, and pray with are the future of Haiti. All these kids have stories and have been through tremendous trials, but at Canaan they are given a chance. Each one of these kids is blessed to be living in an environment that shows them love and provides for their basic need. By God’s grace they have been given a place to live, 3 meals a day, an education, and people who love them.

These kids have a chance to be the change they wish to see in Haiti. It won’t be Americans coming over to Haiti that change Haiti. It will be Haitians banding together to change this place.  I believe this, because I have spent enough time around the people of Canaan to know they are the future. These kids will change Haiti, because they know the love of God. When you know the love of God you walk in obedience to what he commands and through walking in obedience the world changes.

So this month pray with me for the kids of Canaan. Pray that they would know the love of God and that empowered by His love they would love one another. Pray for that my team would be an encouragement to these kids. Pray that we would teach these kids to hope and dream.
