My first blog post!
I really don’t know how to blog. So I’ll just be learning and growing my style along the way, I hope you enjoy the ride!
One of my friends Kyla Stearns, who is currently on her own World Race, encouraged me to do so (check out her blog and see what she is up to on her trip! kylastearns.theworldrace.org )
Anyway, without further ado, here are some reasons that I am going on The World Race.
1. Life is short.
Over the past year or so, God has really been showing/teaching me how short life is. That a life lived for myself, is not a life lived to at all. But, if I’m living for myself, how can Christ live through me? So, this is one way I believe Christ would have me live. For Him, serving others, sharing His love with people who may have never heard of or experienced His love before. One of the ways God has showed me that life is short, is through my friend Brett. He was an incredible man that loved God whole heartedly. He lived his life for his Savior and he lived it to the fullest. In June 2014, Brett was on a missions trip in Thailand and training for a 5k. During his last part of training they were required to run this 5k with their packs on their own to the finish line. Brett never made it to the finish line. He collapsed while running and was taken to the hospital. He was unconscious and never regained consciousness. His organs had started shutting down and before the hour was up, Brett had died. But he is now in Heaven with Jesus, where I know he is much much happier. Brett’s life though, showed Christ in everything he did. His life was full. Even though he only was 21 years old when he died.
Brett is one of the reasons I suppose. God used his death to inspire me, and show me my life isn’t my own and why am I wasting it for foolish and selfish pleasures.
Romans 8:28 says, “28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” God used Brett’s death, though sad and tragic, for my good. To show me that I need to live for Him.
2. Wanderlust
Not gonna lie, I’ve always wanted to travel. This trip gives me the opportunity to serve Christ and travel. Though it might be dangerous and the countries I am going to aren’t really touristy, I am so excited to see the magnificent world God created and to share His love and truth with the people I meet. I would never have had an opportunity to go to these countries if it wasn’t for this trip. I am thankful for this. Cause why would I want to go to countries everybody else goes to? Being different is fun.
3. People / Comfort Zone
I am an introvert. I like my alone time and I like being by myself. This trip WILL grow me in sooo many ways. Not only will I be with the same people for 11 months, I will not be separated from them. That could and will be challenging. I’m excited to see how God is going to use this in my life to grow my love for people. The ones I’m with and the ones I meet while I am abroad. I am excited though to meet and share these life changes with the people God has planned to go on this trip with me.
I will definitely be taken out of my comfort zone. And while it could be scary, I like a good ol’ challenge. But I’d have you know, that there is no way I could do a trip like this without Christ’s help. He is the one who will give me strength to go on and serve people when I don’t feel like I have an ounce left to give. He’ll give me the courage to talk with them and love them as He loved them, when I normally wouldn’t have at all. He’ll give me the words to speak when I know I have no words to offer at all. Christ will give me the love to share when I have no love at all. He will be growing my heart to be more and more like His. I am so excited for this. Not that He hasn’t done that already though, because He has.
That’s all the reasons I shall write for now.
But, some of you may be asking what countries are you going to?!?! Well my friends, let me tell you!
We will be going to; Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Japan.
I’m super excited. Once again, I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!!
Thanks for reading and God bless!! 🙂
With love in Christ,
Caitlin
