I wake up in my tent and am rushed to gather myself to get ready for the day, eat breakfast, and ready lesson plans.
It’s 5:45am in Siem Reap.
I work hard to “find time” to spend with You in the morning; as if You are contained in my time table.
I never quite fit in the time I wish to sit idly in Your Presence, steady and unmoving. Something always seems to come up or get in the way. But, You call me into something new, something more. You remind me that You are not only in the still; not only in the unmoving; not only in the brief moments I can fit in before the school bell to be intentional in the Word.
You say “Good morning” and “I love you” in my teeth brushing. You whisper to me of Your provision in my dressing. You bring me to a posture of deep gratitude in my dish washing, as I am reminded of how You have graciously washed me clean just like the dishes in my hands. You tell me how to love my students well as I prepare my lessons and I ask You what You have for the day.
You are not contained in my allotted quiet time.
This continues throughout my day. I get to be with You. I get to talk to You. I get to hear Your voice. I get to stand in Your Presence as the ultimate teacher teaches me how to be a teacher.
I breathe You in like oxygen because You desire intimacy with me.
“…The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you.
How much less this temple I have built!”
