The Good.

During my time here in Swaziland, our team has had the opportunity to stay with Leo (a Dutch missionary filled with much wisdom) for a couple of days in the week. He’s been discipling us with teachings, and has been able to get us inside the local prison to minister to the men. This past week I actually gave a sermon to about 50 prisoners, my teaching was over carrying yourself with a Christ like attitude no matter the circumstances. Using a translator was somewhat of a difficult task, but nevertheless, the guys and myself managed. The prisoners were surprisingly receptive and nearly all of them came forward for prayer afterwards which was absolutely wonderful. These men are surrounded by brokenness but find so much joy in worshiping the Lord. Humbling to say the least. Leo told us he had never seen so many of the men come forward for prayer during his time in ministry with this prison. I’m so grateful that I was able to just experience and even be a part of such an amazing movement.

The Rad.

The team & I were doing some street evangelism a couple of weeks ago, and were walking around a busy part in the city. Several incredible things took place in this time. A couple of the highlights would be.. Going into a furniture/electronic store and plugging my phone into the loudest speaker then worshipping with the employees (video on Facebook). Another great one was walking up to multiple men drinking/smoking while playing pool and blasting Tupac, we were able to start playing pool and just start conversing. This led to spiritual conversations and conviction for some of their actions. I specifically got to talk to a man who had felt worthless, I quickly reminded Him that Jesus had sent me from all the way in America to talk to him and that He was a beloved child of the almighty King. He then told me that after his last beer he was done and heading to church on Sunday. It’s just mind blowing to know how much potential you have in your daily routine to help and speak life into others when you take the time to maybe go a little bit out of your way. Something I have learned and plan to bring back to the states.

The Funny.

There’s been so many moments filled with much humor and nonstop laughter. One of the more recent ones took place after church this past Sunday. A few of us had the bright idea to jump on some donkeys that were roaming around our compound. The donkeys were uncontrollable and were not very appreciative of our presence. Everything was going great as I took a few laps around the soccer field with Swazi kids herding us, but then without warning a kid did something to spook the one I just so happened to be riding. This donkey took off in a full sprint that was quickly followed by a sudden stop/ buck and I was done for. This creature through me off in a dramatic fashion and I went rolling across the dirt. With just a few scratches, I couldn’t help but just laugh. Not everyday you get thrown off an African ass.
