This story actually begins several years ago. The first time I decided I wanted to go on the world race I had applied for the January 2013 route. Clearly that did not happen. Funding was coming in slowly and my parents advised that I transfer to a later route and have most of my funds before leaving the country. Three years later and a bit more funding I finally launched on the January 2016 route. Our final due date for the full $16,562 was at the end of April. My twenty-fifth birthday was just a few days after that. My goal was to be fully funded by my birthday. As I am sure most of you saw, I was campaigning and asking pretty hard for those final hundreds.
Well, May 6th rolled around, my birthday was the next day, and I was still a few hundred away from my goal. I had been praying so much for the Lord to come through on this. It was 11:45pm and my teammate, Shannon, was writing a newsletter to send to her supporters. She was including in her newsletter which of us on the team still needed funds and how much each of us needed to raise. She asked me where I was and I told her I was several hundred away from my goal, but did not remember the exact amount.
I went upstairs to get ready for bed, a little disappointed that my goal had not been reached. A few minutes later Shannon, who had gone on my World Race web page, yelled up to me that the sight said I was fully funded.
I was confused. There was no way that was true. I had just checked it and I was still pretty far from my goal. I asked her to double check and she said, according to the web sight, I was fully funded. Three years of hard, uncomfortable work and prayer and it was done.
I still didn’t believe her. I had to look for myself. I logged on to my account and checked my funds. Sure enough some one had anonymously donated the last $404 I needed to be fully funded by my twenty-fifth birthday. This is one of the BEST presents I have ever gotten. God is so good!
Literally only minutes left in the day and my prayers had been answered. Mind blown. Suffice it to say, I had a great birthday. My team and I celebrated.
Time and time again God as shown his timing and provision to be perfect, humbling, and absolutely beautiful. It is with a thankful heart that I am free of the fear, anxiety, and stress of fund raising. I am so thankful for each person that donated financially, supported me spiritually, emotionally, and never gave up on my dreams even though it took a bit longer to get out here than I thought it would.
Thank you thank you thank you! I feel so loved.
