God has been changing my view of a typical race. I’ve run two marathons; I’ve experience the pain that it involves, but also the sweet victory at the end when crossing the finish line. Gosh the World Race is so similar. Rather than 26.2 miles worth of nerves, exhaustion, sweat, doubt, excitement, confidence, and accomplishment; it’s 11 months worth.

(so same same but different)

The first month of the race has already encompassed all those emotions.

There is always some nerves leaving a start line, you know the finish line exists, but you don’t know how you’re going to get there. Every race is different.

Throughout the marathon or any race you hit a wall, you reach a point of doubt, a point of true exhaustion and finishing seems further away than where you started. All these struggles and pain you’re experiencing seem like a huge obstacle. But it’s in these moments you remember how far you’ve come, and all the work that has gone into it so far. You begin to find the confidence to make it through and know the finish line is near so excitement sets in.

And when you cross that finish line, everything was worth it. The struggles that you went through now seem small and the accomplishment outweighs them.

Every runner experiences the same race differently. Some fly through without any issues and hit a new personal record, some hit some bumps and walk a little. This doesn’t mean any runner is better than the other, there are just many different ways of getting to the finish line accomplishing the same goal.

This is life as a Christian. God gives us this image or idea of what He wants for us. To get to the finish line, you have to leave behind the start line and TRUST that God will provide you with the means to get there.

Everyone’s story isn’t going to look the same. There will be trials, but God will give you the strength to get through all of them.

Push through the struggles and the pain because God will get you to where you need to be. Everything difficult will become small because what is beyond that start line will be worth it.

Join me as we run the race through life with God as our coach.
